For thoughtful educators

Teach skillfully. Care responsibly. Help communication grow.

Mama & Child welcomes educators who believe strong teaching and humane teaching belong together—and who are willing to prepare carefully for both the learner and the family.

Why teach here

Be part of work that is meaningful without pretending teaching is effortless.

This program values teachers as professionals, not interchangeable faces on a screen.

The work asks for patience, preparation, sound judgment, and the ability to make a learner feel safe enough to attempt something difficult. It also asks teachers to communicate honestly with families, follow clear boundaries, and keep developing their practice.

The mission is admirable because it is practical: teach language and communication well, help confidence grow gradually, and make learning a constructive part of family life. We do not expect teachers to act as therapists or promise outcomes they cannot control.

Applications are welcome from experienced ESL educators, classroom teachers, early-childhood educators, communication trainers, and other qualified practitioners whose background fits a program pathway. Relevant credentials matter, but so do demonstration of teaching skill, reliability, humility, and respect.

Who may be a good fit

Professional skill with a family-sensitive way of working.

You know how to teach

You can set a clear objective, explain at the learner’s level, model language, check understanding, and make purposeful adjustments.

You respect the learner

You do not shame, force performance, use fear as motivation, or treat a learning difference as a character flaw.

You communicate with families

You can explain progress and concerns calmly, protect confidentiality, and respect the responsible adult’s role.

You can keep learning

You are open to shared methods, feedback, observation, professional development, and consistent program standards.

Application process

Careful selection protects learners, families, teachers, and the program.

A short demonstration, sample plan, references, or supporting documents may be requested.

04

Safeguarding and agreement

Required checks, orientation, responsibilities, compensation, and work status are confirmed before teaching.

Submitting this form is an expression of interest. It does not guarantee acceptance, employment, contractor status, minimum teaching hours, or placement with a learner. Any offer and working arrangement will be stated separately in writing.

Professional growth

Training is organized in levels, with responsibility earned through practice.

Educators progress through orientation, supervised practice, approved teaching, advanced study, and possible mentoring roles. Time alone does not create advancement; teaching quality, documentation, family communication, professional conduct, and completed teaching experience are reviewed together.

The additional-learning-support pathway has separate entry requirements. General training does not turn an educator into a special-education-qualified teacher.

Two application tracks

General educators and additional-learning-support educators are reviewed differently.

A teacher may apply to one or both tracks. Selection for the additional-support track requires specific qualifications and experience; goodwill alone is not enough.

General educator track

Language, communication, life skills, and approved academic subjects

  • Relevant degree, teaching credential, subject qualification, or documented professional expertise
  • At least two years of relevant teaching, training, tutoring, or closely related instructional experience preferred
  • Clear spoken and written English appropriate to the assigned program
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, explain, model, check understanding, and adjust instruction
  • Professional references and a satisfactory teaching demonstration
  • Reliable device, internet connection, suitable teaching space, and responsible schedule management
  • Agreement to safeguarding, privacy, child-safety, family-communication, and professional-conduct requirements

Additional learning support track

For verified special-needs-education-qualified educators

  • A degree or graduate qualification in special needs education, special education, or a closely equivalent recognized field
  • Teacher licensure, registration, or eligibility when required for the educator's qualification or location
  • At least two years of direct educational work with learners who have additional learning needs, with stronger experience preferred
  • Knowledge of evidence-informed educational supports, documentation, progress monitoring, family collaboration, and professional scope
  • A case-based interview and demonstration showing calm, individualized, dignity-protecting teaching
  • Identity, qualification, reference, and safeguarding or background checks appropriate to work with minors
  • Commitment not to diagnose, provide therapy, or represent educational support as clinical treatment

The program may require stronger or different evidence depending on the learner, service, country, and applicable law. Qualification for this track does not authorize a teacher to offer medical, psychological, speech, occupational, or other clinical services through Mama & Child.
